it was leaking out of the fuel filter housing where a wire goes to the top of it
what does that wire do ? also there is a wire that goes to what looks like a sensor what does that wire do>?
can i put a older 6.9 fuel filter housing on it? and what can i do with the 2 wires that i am left with? do they make a water separator filter that fits the older 6.9 housing?
The wire on top is the fuel heater wire.
The wire on the side of the header is a filter restriction sensor.
The wire to the bottom of the filter is the water in fuel sensor.
thanks dave
i swapped the leaking filter housing for a non leak-er off another 7.3l i have laying around
the 6.9 housing is so simple i would use it if i could find a water separator fuel filter for it ...I'm thinking they don't exist...... now to get a new filter and some diesel clean.
NAPA sells a stand-alone filter/water seperator you could put in-line before the lift pump. That's what I have on my '86 and '94. Works great.
On the '86 I use the factory filter too.
On the '94 I use a filter on the factory head w/o the factory water seperator. The filter I use has a simple drain in the bottom THAT DOESN'T LET AIR IN! Also NAPA Gold.
