I have a 1977 F-150 custom 4x4, i ran the vin and it was a 351m truck, but for some reason its got a 302 in it, it was like that when i bought it. I have a 408ci Windsor stroker motor minus cam, i was going to use for a mustang. I want to put that motor in my truck. Does anyone know whats involved with this swap, and if there is a company that makes parts for this swap. Would it be cheaper to just build a 351m or 400m
I put a windsor in a 2wd and the only thing that was different was the headers because the 351w has a taller deck height than the 302 which makes it a little wider at the heads. motor mounts, trans/flywheel radiator hoses were all fine just had to do a little bending to the headers
What brand and model headers should i use that will work with 4wd, and would i have any trouble putting a C-6 cmall bellhousing 4x4 tranny behind it, will it hook up to my transfer case, or do i need a new one, also where can i buy new engine mounts
Will motor mounts and headers for a 80's 4x4 351w truck work, or should i sell the motor and try to build a 460 or 400m. I have a friend who collects 351c's, and he also has Aussie heads and 4v heads, he would sell one to me if thats the way i want to go. If i did try to build a 400m i would use Aussie heads with a 351c bumpstick, but i already have a 408w with Aluminm heads, and edelbrock air-gap intake, Eagle H-beam rods and crank, so i would like to be able to use this in my truck, i have already found a sm. bellhousing 4x4 C-6, i just need motor mounts and headers
