Variations in performance, what could be the problem
For a long time, the truck in my sig will run great one day and then it feels like it's killing itself the next.
My first thought was a brake sticking, but I used a thermal imager and none were hotter than the rest. Also fuel mileage is about the same as always.
I have replaced the pass side 1st O2 sensor after the engine melted down and coolant went into the #1 cyl. How long do O2 sensors last? I've heard 60K.
The truck has a little hesitation off idle when cold and that usually goes away once driven for a couple miles. Possible TPS?
Anyhow the truck is on the verge of 100K and I'd like to try to figure this crap out as I plan on keeping it for a while.
Not in a while. If I recall correctly, you just use the spray electronics cleaner and let it evaporate?
I wouldn't think the IAC is bad as I never have problems idling. It's just a very minor hesitation off idle when cold. Maybe for like the first 3 stop signs.
Also, all the regular maintence stuff is up to date like air filters, fuel filter. It also has 8 new plugs, coils, coil springs, and boots.
Sticky injector?? You could check for a dirty throttlebody although I don't think the is the root of your problem...wouldn't hurt to clean everything in the intake like MAF, intake elbow, egr ports, IAC, and check the PCV elbow for cracks while yer at it.
