3/8 Ratchet

I have a Craftsman thin ratchet 44995 ,
and this one:44811

Craftsman 3/8 in. Drive Quick Release Teardrop Ratchet - Model 44811 at Sears.com

Here what I am thinking, buy the rebuit kit for your 44995 thin ratchets, and take the gear from
44811 ratchet, then put the gear from the 44995
to the 44811

will this work?

Only one way to find out.
Why do you want to do it?
Is the thin ratchet gearing finer so it requires less range of motion?

The thin ratchet is a finer tooth, BUT it is ALSO a sealed ratchet, verses the other one that just has a cover plate held on by a snap ring.

It is thiner (of course) and I am not sure of the component size (especially the pawl), but I believe it is smaller all around and won't work. I know it is MUCH harder to assemble (small bearing that LOVES to shoot across the room), and your going to keep having to reassemble it, as in a not sealed ratchet, it will need more cleaning and regreasing.
