First, I plan to start rebuilding my 300 soon and I want to install a EFI head on it, I have heard that some of them tend to crack and was wondering if there are any specific years or casting #s I should watch out for? or do I just have to get one and hope for the best?
Could be wrong but I heard that the heads of 300's tend to crack because they are affixed to the block so well with bolts (ever use JB weld? Doesn't work too well). No room to warp or so the rumor goes.
just make sure the Junkyard you deal with is customer friendly, your gonna have the head magnafluxed anyway, so if there is a problem, exchange it.
I know of a feller that went through ten to find an efi head that wasnt cracked.
There is a company that has allegedly redesigned and taken care of these casting flaws and actually recast the head, brand spankin new, they advertise on ebay all the time. Id imagine its the same company that supposedly recast the block as well, with updates in weak areas.
