Just wanted to step up and introduce myself. I've got a '79 F-100 Custom that I just started to restore, and my mind has turned to moosh from all the thinking I've been doing. Not sure where to start. This is my first restoration project. She runs and drives ok, but there are some things that need addressed. I'll be searching the forums for prior posts, but if I ask a question that's already been addressed, I appologize in advance. I am very excited and can't wait to get her in top shape!
I really think the '73 to '79 series is one of the best that FoMoCo ever produced. IMHO, they stopped making real trucks when they took the dimmer switch off the floorboard!

I wish you luck with your truck...An you came to the right place for help an advice....
Nice 79 short bed! Looks like a really good truck to restore because the body looks to be in pretty decent shape. I've always liked the maroon/silver 2-tone combo.
Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm no stranger to FTE, but I was on the diesel side. I had a problematic '04 6.0L that I was constantly chatting about. Finally rid myself of the heartache and traded it for an '06 Mustang GT. Anyway, my truck is a 4x2, short bed, custom cab, w/factory a/c, and 3speed auto. I'm not sure whether it's a C4 or a C6. I don't know much about the auto's at this point. To tell the truth, most trucks (and cars for that matter) I have owned have been manuals. I really wish this truck was a manual, but I'm willing to try something new ! The truck drives ok at the moment. I believe it has some timing or vacuum issues. It does have shift kit in the tranny and it seems pretty dang strong. My main concern is the rust spots on the cab and the doors. The doors aren't a big deal cause I can get them aftermarket. There is some pitting on the body, but it's not too bad at this point. I plan on tackling that first. Then I want to tackle the engine and drivetrain. She could probably use some new electrical components too. Anyway, I'm gonna start rambling if I don't shut up!
