Hey guys I need some help. I have big power and performance plance for my 99 4.2 and I had a suggestion from a very good source as far as the transmission is concerned. I want to change out the 5 speed transmisson to a better shifting and all around better transmission for the setup I want. I was told that the V6 Mustang T-5 bolts right up to the 4.2 engine just fine using the 94-04 3.8 Mustang bellhousing, and the Tremec 3550, 500, or T-56 take quie a few items and conversion tidbits. Now my question is have any of you done anything like this before or can I do something to the stock 5 speed to make it work better on my part for my setup.
I don't remember ever knowing of anybody doing this.
My general rule is ANYTHING can be done given enough time and money, it's just a matter of how much it is worth to the individual.
You might want to ask in the FTE Transmission/Drivetrain forum.
Some of the regulars in there might know for sure what would and would not work.
