I grew up on horseback. I trained some good horses before I quit farming. We used ours for herding cattle. I left farming in the mid 70s. I miss having a good horse to ride. I've got a few injuries myself from herding & roping cattle.
I hope to build my truck much like yours Tex. Its real strong with now on the 100hp setting. I don't use it much because I don't want to blow the head gaskets. I've done lots of reading on the 6.0 & you have fixed all the known flaws & built a strong reliable motor. I'd be happy to dyno 450 at wheels with my truck but 500 would really be good

The only time that mine actually see farm work is when I'm pulling the farm wagon with the young filly(one in my avatar) and hauling seed, fertilizer(although I'm hoping to be on manure compost by spring of next year) etc to the fields and not wanting to use more diesel burning equipment then have to. In all honesty though with regard to horse related accidents, I don't really think you can consider yourself a horse person until you've had a few battle scars and know how to make just about any fall look graceful.

Oh I really do love this truck. There have been a few bumps along the way, but this is definately a keeper and in my opinion far better then the 7.3 I had from 02.
Now I didn't really have a problem with the truck in stock form, but it didn't last past 3k on the odometer in stock form, so it's kinda hard to tell what would have happened with slightly over 100k on the odometer now.
I felt that since I spend most of my time in the truck because of the lifestyle that I live(dealing with equine) and the fact that I've actually have had to drive more despite recent fuel hikes that "investing" more into the truck, not just performance but entertainment electronics, was worth it and it is(atleast in my opinion and how much enjoyment I'm getting out of it, which is all that counts really).
I got lucky on the entertainment gear in my truck. Its got a good stereo plus a dvd & overhead tv to keep the grandson busy on trips.I had a 95 F250 with a 7.3. It wasn't close to the power my 04 has stock even with a 80 hp chip on the 7.3. I'll get mine modded a little at a time. I don't have to drive it much since my job furnishes me a van. I will mod it as fast as my money lets me. SCT tuning & a MBRP exhaust will be my first mods.
I agree about having the battle scars if you really ride horses. Sometimes its real hard to make a fall look graceful. I've had the saddle jerked off my horse by a big cow I'd roped. Thank god I got my feet out of the stirrups before I hit the ground. After that flying leap I learned to keep good leather on my saddle.
I have a feeling that is quite a lot of people on here. I've got quite a few now that have responded so let's try to go on to the next step.
If y'all are willing, give a big town that just about anyone will know(remember I'm not native here) and then a radius to let me know how far y'all are willing and/or able to go(as I know it's getting close to fall and that means more business or schoolin for people) and I'll try to see if I can find a place that will maximize participation here.
Good work Tex. You might fire up mid Tn yet.I'm planning a local meet here around the SVTOA car show next month. I know its a long drive but its open to all FTE members.Admission is free & it should be a great show. This yr it has all makes of American muscle cars.
Tex, I was reading back through the thread and saw were you were looking at a get together at one of the breweries and that sounds like a good time. Maybe a Oct. weekend thing?
For me its not that I don't post, its just not here that much. I have 2000 posts over at 150online and am active on several other Ford forums too. Kinda in the process of backing off at 150online because the traffic is getting a little thick and is hard to keep up with topics when they are being feed 24/7. Not saying its a bad thing just not for me.

I'd be up for an Oct. weekend meet at one of the breweries(any one strike you more then the other?). I'm hoping that the others in the area might be able to chime in if they are willing and/or able to do a meet there.
Don't matter to me, I haven't been to either one. Would be good to round up more people, I'll try to steer some from other sites that are local.
Another idea if that doesn't work is to meet up at one of the local cruise spots [kind of a neutral setting] to promote some participation for a while then do a big event latter on.

Oh yea, we would definately need more then 2 to show up there. If you know of more in your 1/2 ton crowd that'll be good. Let me know if they show an interest there.

I would do that, but the cops went after the local cruise areas here because the bratty teenagers with their loud thump thump music got to annoying for the locals and they complained to the cops. Unless there is an "underground"
cruise spot, I don't know of any anymore(atleast round here in this area.)
Where are you at? I think Hendersonville has a big cruise on Friday nites along with Murfreesboro. I can speak personally for the Mt. Juliet cruise in on Sat. nite, averages 300 vehicles a week.
I'd be up for doing something on a weekend. Hendersonville does a cruise in on Friday nights at the Home Depot (Vietnam Veterans/ 386 exit #7, turn right, it's on the left a mile or two down). I wouldn't mind doing something in downtown Nashville either, but parking may be a pain in the rear, depending on the timing.

I'm in the Franklin/Brentwood area.

Best place for parking is accross the street from Gerst Haus(atleast for trucks and is usually open except when Titans are playing here). Gerst Haus I might add has good food and the portions are generous, but they are on the moderate to pricey side depending on what you like. Now I well say this their draft beer is the cheapest that you are more then likely going to find in the Nashville area(unless they have gone up since I was last there, which is possible).

Maybe a Sunday evening when the Titans are out of town.
