My 1995 F150, 302 Auto, won't downshift when the gas is pushed to the floor. I believe the "check engine" light came on at the same time but not sure if they coincided exactly. Any Ideas? Easy fix or a big bucks? Thanks Jeff
if the cel came on, you should pull your codes and start from there. You can buy a code reader, go to fordfuelinjection.com and do it without the reader, or some parts stores will do it for free.
I did not read the codes...don't have a unit to work with the older stuff. But I wll go get one today and run the codes. I'll get back with that info ASAP. thanks Jeff
I went to my nearby O'riellys' Auto parts and they let me use their unit. But, all I got after multiple attempts was that it was unable to read the codes. So must have some wiring issues or whatever. But, back to my original question, can anyone give an educated guess as to the cause of the transmission not downshifting? Thanks for your help. Jeff
The only "unit" you need to pull codes is a piece of wire. Ground the STI wire.. it's a single wire with a grey connector near the EEC test connector, then turn the key to run and count the flashes on the check engine light.
