ive got a 1990 4&4 that has a odd transfercase problem when in 4&4 high its ok but when in 4&4 low it seems to still be in high gear the 4&4 low light is on how is this possible the trans is a auto any ideas thanks

the light is essentially triggered by the linkage being in the right place. can you get into neutral? It is impossible to go 2H->4H->N->4H so try it again

the shifter works fine goes into n 4h 4l 2h no problem im wondering in the case is there maybe a slide thats thats not moving out of high when shifted to low i just bought the truck when going through the truck i found the case empty of oil this may mean that the guy was inside the case or knew of the problem but sait nothing

like quaddriver said.. see if you get neutral. if you get neutral then its coming out of 4H.

I checked again its in 4 high no matter where you put the shifter if you put it in neutral its still in high if you put in 4 low the low light comes on but its still in 4 high thanks
