oil filter

i want to change the engine oil and oil filter on my 01 ST but i cant get the old oil filter out it's to tight..what else can i do? thanks.

If you cant get it out, you can take a screwdrive and hammer it threw there to give you leverage to turn it. It is a little messy, but sometimes it is the only solution.

I use one of those sheet metal punched out oil filter cover wrenches to get mine out. A 3/8" extension on my ratchet and it comes right off. They can be pretty tight.

The chain-style works well, if you have room to swing it.

I use the stamped metal ones too to with a 3/8" ratchet. If you can't get it loose with that your going to have major problems. Sounds like someone used the wrench to install the filter, a no no.

They sell cast pot metal ones too.
