No Ford F Series truck came with dual exhausts till the 1990's = none.
Mr ND:
I suspect that you meant light or medium duty F series didnt have factory duals.
I rented a 1988 F700 from Ryder with 429 four barrel and it had factory dual exhaust-with three inch pipe. The truck was two months old when I rented it and it still had factory new everywhere-on the underneath and under the hood. It had just 1600 miles on it.Always wanted to run a 429 four barrel with duals and five speed manual-just didnt expect to run it with 24000 pounds! Good running truck!!

Since most of the F Series trucks spoken about on FTE are F100/350's, that's what I was refering to.
Because the fuel tanks on most Ford trucks after 1972 are on the drivers side under the beds, this is the major reason why these trucks didn't come with duals originally.
Running a hot exhaust pipe adjacent to fuel tanks is not a good idea.
Prior to 1973, there was little demand for duals. One has to remember, that before 1991, more trucks were sold for commercial purposes, then for pleasure.
1991 was the first year peeps bought more trucks for pleasure (daily drivers) which has been the case till gas hit 3 bucks a gallon.
Now the trend is reversing. Light truck sales are down over 40% since midyear 2005 (all light trucks, not just Fords).
The Lightning models, AFAIK, were the first F100/350's to come with dual exhausts.
The Heavy F Series trucks all have the fuel tanks mounted outside the frame rails, allowing for dual exhausts to run straight back from the engine.
