Mityvac for oil changes?

Anyone ever use a Mityvac to do an oil change? I've heard of a few people using these, but wanted to see if anyone has tried them out...

What would you be trying to vac out? I usually pull the plug and the filter and the oil comes out. You trying to clean out an oil cooler orrr??? Maybe this is a diesel thing and I look like a retard now as I am not familiar with diesels lol.

Some shops use a vacuum system to suck the oil up through the dipstick instead of using the drain. Mercedes has recommended this for years.

My F250 is the least of my worries for draining; I don't even need ramps to open her up. My Sport Trak is a bit of a PITA to do, and it would still have to go up on ramps for the filter. However, a couple of my work machines don't have drain plugs, so I've always had to send them into the shop for oil changes and I'm getting pretty tired of paying those bills.

I just figured I'd check with the members of this forum because there are a number of pretty savvy people around here that might have used one....

Depending on the amount of oil you're changing and the size of the opening you can access I think the shop vac would be better than a small hand pump like that. Have the vac pull suction on a drum or other sturdy oil container and run the tube from that into the machine to vac out the oil. Let the oil suction tube go all the way down to the bottom of the drum so you don't end up sucking oil right into the vac, kind of like a water pipe. When you're done the oil is in the recycling drum and the vac is still clean.

I used this method once to change out the oil in a bunch of big electric distribution breakers. The guy I was working with said it was a lot faster and cleaner than draining each breaker into a bucket and then pouring the oil into the drum.

If you can get the tube down the little itty-bitty dipstick tube, it works great
