Will I be OK?

Well I was notified that I will be going on a short notice deployment in two weeks. I currently have around 5K miles on Rotella 5W40. Would it be ok to leave that oil in there the 6 month period or should I change to some fresh motor oil just to have it sit the whole time? My brother or father will probably drive it once a month just to keep it running.

Any other ideas before I head out?

Thanks
Mike

As far as the oil goes I see no problem with leaving it until you get back. Be safe

When it gets run it needs to be brought up to temperature and held there for a while to evaporate any accumulated condensation.

Be safe.

Top it off and leave it be. Have your bro and pop run it long enough to get the engine hot to dry it out before parking agian. Be Safe and Thank you.

I know you trust your dad and your brother Mike, but in the event that you don't, if you want to leave the truck at my house while you're deployed I'll take care of her for you.

For that matter, if you wanted to leave it in your driveway (so it looks like you are home) I could swing by on my way home from the base and warm it up once or twice a week.

I realize we probably haven't known each other long enough for you to put that kind of trust in me, but I'll put the offer out there anyway.

These trucks are not like the 6.leakers that rust up from sitting, just change here when you come back home and see if the family will drive her a bit to get her up to operating temps a couple of times a month. Thank you for your service and be safe!

Guys and gals, I appreciate the help and all the encouragement too, no thank you needed, just doing what I’m tasked to do. But I did get a warm fuzzy feeling inside thoughJ

I guess I'll just top it off and give it some good clean oil when I get back.

Scott, that might be an offer I just can't refuse. I know if I were to leave it with you, it'll be taken care of and might even have some more performance mods done to it. Not that it's a bad thing.

Chiefn10: I'll be heading out with the AF to Manas AB.
