And you can get the extra "sock" for it - I have one, but haven't put it on yet...
I'll need to get that because its high desert here and very dusty...the k&n I just took off the old air cleaner was very dirty for only 7,000 miles on it..
Krewat how has your Volant worked towing or have you towed with your truck since your installed the new filter?

I don't tow - just pull heavy things once in a while like 2-foot diameter trees complete with crown through the woods.
Can't give you any indication that this helped with towing. But loaded, with 2000lbs in the bed, yeah, it helped maintain speed up some steep grades in Upstate New York without downshifting like it used to.
The y-pipe didn't do much for that, but the Volant seems to have helped.
Volant PowerCore Filter: 99.99% efficient at removing dirt. Better than any other filter on the market. Yet it still flows more air than paper and doesn't need oiling like a cotton/gauze filter. The fluted design and nano-fiber technology used in the PowerCore, makes it maintenance free and lasts 100,000 miles before you need to replace it.
So...you received the PowerCore filter? That's cool, because in Krewats install instructions tech article...the pic showing the actual filter looks like the Volant Pro 5 filter.
I got the same as Art's Volant Pro 5 filter looks just like the K&N filter
WOW! That is very interesting. As you mentioned...the site clearly advertizes the PowerCore. Humm?
I might contact them directly...and see what they have to say. Maybe they have since replaced the Volant Pro 5 air filter with the PowerCore. See if I can find any info out...and will report back.
Hey guys, sorry to resurrect the ol' thread here, but I was thinking of installing one myself after I get my exhaust sorted out, and I have some questions. Firstly, did anyone get a Donaldson powercore filter with their intake, or just the Pro-5. I work in dusty conditions occasionally so I want the superior filter, and possibly would love to be able to stick a pre-filter on it.
Secondly, where do you notice most of the power coming on at. I usually work from 0 to 2,300 RPMs and I'm itching to hear how it works out.

Power will come up higher in the rpm range, well above 2300rpm. It may help throttle response some but not much. I would keep the stock setup and just keep fresh paper filters in it since your in dusty areas. You could also get a replacement cleanable filter for the stock airbox.
Pinky, there is a "sock" they sell to fit over the filter for dusty/wet conditions. I have it, but haven't installed it yet. The filter box is still quite clean after all this time.
Thanks, I just looking for some goodies to give it that little extra "oophm" while towing. I would like to re-gear my transmission but I pull a triple duty with the truck. Towing in the summer, daily driver, and snow plow rig in the winter. The 3.73s work good for two of the categories. However, my crappy manifolds are leaking so we will see after that is fixed.
I did get some V10 decals from SCT - and was wondering what to do with the chrome SCT logo you see in my avatar. Maybe that's what I'll do with some of the stuff Underhood dressing - I'm not a big fan of stickers/emblems on the outside of the truck for everyone to see.
^^^^^ I put my SCT logo under the F-250 badge on the tailgate. Its subtle and doesn't stick out. Holds up to the weather good. Thats the only thing stuck on my truck except for a small logo of my college which is hard to see through the tinted back window. I hate stickers.
