It makes more sense to me to go by hours of operation rather than miles driven. The auto manufacturers probably prefer miles because then they don't have to spend the $$$ to put hour meters on the vehicles they sell.
There is no magical mathmatical calculation to turn miles into hours. That 33miles in one hour can vary greatly on how fast your going and how your using your truck.
If you do a lot of idling, for example have a PTO to run something. The only accurate way I can see is to keep track of hours is to have an hour meter on the truck.
