Anyone tow a 3000 - 4000 pound trailer with a Ranger? How well does it pull and stop?
Also, is the Torsen LSD any better than whatever the other LSD?
I am thinking about ordering a 2009 SCab for towing a tent trailer/pop up and would also use it off road (not rock crawling). I'd like a LSD up front or air/electric locker up front but can't find one.
the ranger should be perfect for your needs and if u can get the torsen deff get it, you wont have to rebuild clutch packs and it can send more power b4 it slips then the clutch packs and heres a ls e locker for up front expensive
I have towed a 3500LB trailer with my old 93' 3.0 with a standard. It did ok, but stopping in the rain was tricky. My current Ranger I tow a 2000LB trailer all the time with no issues at all.
oops didnt even notice that, its gonna be hard to find one since a lot of jeeps have a 35 in the rear and 30 up front and i dont think one for a rear 35 would word up front not sure though but if u could get a torsen lsd on both diff that would be a sick truck
I tow my boat a mile to and from ramp with my Ranger at times. All told, it is 5K or so. I would not want to tow it any further than I do. For long trips we use a full size Chevy and it is much better.

The jeep D35 is different than the rangers anyway. The torson is a gear driven lsd that needs no modifiers, it's automatic and it's awesome. It's the same as the detroit tru-trac that I had in my 04 ranger. The trac loc isn't worth the 50 cents it would take to order it, with the torson you'll have a real lsd, not a poser.
Thanks. I'm very familiar with the stock Ford LSD and the True Trac, and you're right about there being a significant difference. After doing more research I realized the Torsen and True Trac are similar. Thanks!
I'd love to have a Ranger with True Tracs front and rear (or Torsen), but it doesn't look possible.
One thing though - if your on a budget, bang for your buck, a lock-right is a bullet proof unit.....you just need to learn to drive the truck with it in the rain, it's not so bad once you get used to the way it works.
Heck Waves, a lock-right isn't any cheaper than a tru-trac. However you can install the lock-right your self in the driveway where as the tru-trac or torson needs to be professonally done, so you would save money on the installation.
Hmmmm I was under the impression the lock-right was a little cheaper (I thought about $100) than a torsen or true-track/gear driven true track type unit. But for sure the set-up is much easier. So what's been going on Wendell?
