I have a 1990 f-350. vin # 2FTJW36G5LCB19197. The rear end to this truck locked up and i need to replace it. The tag on the rear end is a v132c. My friend has a 1991 f-250 with a rear end tag # v126c. The truck vin # 1FTHX26G8RKB77475. So my question is how can i change out the rear end in order to make my 1990 f-350 run right? Also on my friends truck his tag on the rear end is rotted out and that is the only number that i can read. I need help to find out what i can do to make my truck work right without messing up my transfer case. I would also like someone to tell me what gear ratio both these trucks have. Thanks for the help guys.
They are both 10.25's but yours is a 4.10 and his is a 3.55.
the 4.10 part is likely in the 'locked up' area, meaning you prolly wont be able to swap between the housings.
If you take his 3.55 and you are 4x4 (which you both are) - ur gonna have an issue when in 4x4 - namely crap twisting off that you dont want twisting off.
can you get the front as well and just change the xfer case gear? (yours is likely 23 teeth, his is 21.)
Did yours lock up due to exploded spiders or something? dropped tooth? might be worth a looksee to see how screwed it really is.
I would take the inspection cover off your axle and see what's broken. Most likely the whole thing is trashed, but it's worth a shot. It would be much less work to go to the junkyard and pick up a new rear axle with the right ratio than it would be to get your buddy's axle working in your truck. You'll hate the 3.55 ratio if you have 4.10's now anyway.

From what the VIN sez (W36), it's an F350 4WD Crew Cab.
With 4.10's in the rear, the front axle will (usually) be the same ratio.
I have seen some 4.56 rears with 4.10 fronts...yes, Ford did do that on occasion, but only on special order.
