bad dashlights
I have a '77 F-100. the dashlights only work on the right side. Half the speedometer, voltage, and temp gauge work. The turn signals work on both sides. I tried putting in another instrument cluster, but nothing worked so I changed it back. I changed the bulbs, cleaned the plugs and sockets. Still only half. What next?

Inspect the printed circuit on the back of the instrument cluster. Check both contacts where the light bulb holder goes by following the copper path to the dash light that does work. Check where the bulb holder makes contact with a voltmeter to see if the power is bad or the ground is bad. Either the printed circuit, bulb, or bulb holder are bad.
