99 Exp. 5.4 Error Code P1131

From reading a bunch of threads, it seems I need to check my vacuum lines.

Just need some help on how to do that, where they are, what they look like, etc.

I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but just don't know much about cars. I've changed alternators, oil, and MAFs before, so let me know if you think this is more than I can handle.

Thanks.

p1131 code

I believe that is the same code I had for the front o2 on the passenger side of my truck. If that is the only code you have, most likely the o2 sensor is bad/contaminated. What do you have for mileage on your vehicle?

That code is fairly accurate in indicating a slow/lazy O2 sensor most of the time.

If you have 4X4, good luck getting to it - it's very tight in there.

I would replace the o2 sensor. I had to take the right front tire off and remove the inner wheel liner on my truck, it gives you more room. I don't know if an expedition would be the same or not. I used a 22mm wrench from the bottom to loosen it. You may have to heat it a little to initially loosen it.

Sorry, didn't see your post last night. Truck has 160,000 and is 2WD.

How much should I expect the o2 sensor to cost?

How difficult is the replacement? Intuitively simple?

Thanks.

I think mine was about 48 bucks at napa. As far as how hard it is to change, I would not think it would be much different than my 98 f-150.
