My abs light seems to come on and off spuratically. It has done this for about a year, for no apparent reason. I've never bothered to have it looked at, since the truck still stops but now that I've come across this forum, I thought maybe someone would have an idea. This all started way before I lifted it or did brakes, or anything like that.
It will typically come on after driving about 500' or so, and sometimes go off later on, but not always. It seems to stay off longer if its wet out, but the abs doesnt work, it just locks up like a non-abs vehicle. no-biggie, but just like to see what's up
This is the abs sensor in the rear end. The part is $15 or so.
That is the good news. The bad news is that there maybe metal flakes rolling around in there causing the sensor to go bad.
In my case (I have a 95 as well), the speedometer gear is all chewed up, and is throwing the sensor off. Speedometer bounces all the time as well, and I can't tell how fast I am going. It has been doing this for a year, and I haven't bothered fixing it yet.
