my project electrical advice

I am about to start a new project and I would like to hear advice on what will be involved in the electrical change over

I currently have a 1985 F250 4x4 w/a carbureted 351 engine,
and what I am going to do is remove the body and replace it with the body off of a 1987 F150 2x4 with EFI.

I will have to re-use the wiring harness off of the 85 for all of the engine components, but I would really like to keep all of the 87 instrument cluster in tact with the 87 body.

My question is, will the main plug on the steering column from the 85 plug into the 87 steering column, and the same goes for the plug in for the instrument cluster. If not, can anyone out there give me a good idea what I will be in for, or be able to direct me to a thorough set of schematic diagrams on both trucks so I can cross reference the two trucks electrical systems.

I have a manual for both trucks [HAYNES] and I find them very difficult to follow and understand.

Any help I could recieve on this project will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You!
