LOL, I saw on the 73-79 forum, the high-boy topic came up in an arguement over the weekend. I understand now that mine is just lifted, but I dont understand why these guy's get so bent out of shape over a coined phrase from the general public. They state that on there and then talked about how they blew up on a dealer over it. i guess I dont care either way, I'm just glad I finally got my hand's on the truck i did. I'm kinda pissed I'm having trouble with o'reilly's over getting the right starter, and not being able to find header's... but I finally got my truck off the trailer this weekend, and I was in Awe!
Another thing, I was talking to a bunch of people about reupholstering the bench seats. I wasnt liking the kit's, and I thought about bucket seats, but those option's just wernt cutting it. My father-in-law was stripping a 20xx Excursion and I got to looking at the rear seat's... before he could throw them to the side, i was out there with a tape measure and a ratchet . They fit almost like a glove in my truck. I'm going to have to do a small bracket mod for the one of the bolt holes on the far pass. side, basicly a shim bracket. so now I have a Leather 60-40 bench with arm rest and cup holders
sounds good on the seat... what prob's you having with a starter?... heck I've used a 302 on my 460 before didn't last long (3 months) but I had it laying around..... if anything have them pull the number for a 78 thunderbird/cougar and see try that.... they had 302's and 351 w
Well, I didnt do the swap myself, so i dont know exactly what the motor came out of. So they gave me a starter that was completly wrong, then they gave me one that looked identical to my old one, but the nose was keeping it from bolting it up, same with starter number 3, but much an improvement. It's only about 1/8th inch too long, but filling down the nose will weeken it. Where can i find the bellhousing number?
