tail light harness
i'm having a problem with my tail lights. when i bought the truck there were absolutely no wires going past the end of the cab - nothing to lite up the tail lights. since then, i have wired everything up with the exception of the backup lights. lately, i have been having problems with the lights not being as bright one side as the other and intermittent problems with different sides that has already gotten me pulled over once. anyone know of a site on the web where i can buy partial or full wire harnesses? i am tired of my splices not doing the job and want to replace it with something close to original. thanks

I have not tried this yet, but www.painlesswiring.com has been mentioned on this site. Try them, also it would seem that one of your taillight wires were reversed from your description. the intermittent problem is most likely a bad ground.

I had a splice in my rear harness that was giving me problems too. Somebody had spliced in a trailer plug and the connections were kind of corroded. I just cleaned everything up and it worked ok. Couple of years later I went to install a trailer plug myself and noticed the taillights where a little dim and my turn signal seemed a little lazy. When I took the splice apart again, the copper on the wires was dull and didn't look good. This time I SOLDERED the wires together and so far no more problems.
