One Last Wiring Question (Ha!)

The fluids are in my F-1 (351W/C4 Combo) and all the wiring is connected and verified except the connection from the coil to the ignition switch. I have researched until I am blue in face and since I am not using an existing harness, I am confused. Here are my issues:

1. From the Duraspark Ign. Module there is a 2 wire plug with a red and white wires. As for the white wire, the common answer I am seeing is that it goes to the "S" terminal on the starter relay. A wire then goes from the same "S" terminal back to the starter terminal "S" on the ignition switch. Is this correct and are these separate wire runs?

2. The red wire from the same module connector gets me confused. I have seen diagrams where it goes to the "Ign" terminal on the ignition switch. These same diagrams show the red/green wire from the coil going to the same terminal but running through a ballast resistor. Finally, to totally confuse me, where does the wire from the "I" terminal on the starter relay go? On the diagram it looks like it goes through the same resistor wire. Or, does it run directly to the Ign. terminal on the ignition switch like the other two wires?

So, who's on first?

HI There Again,

I sent a response back to your PM and you are probably more confused from that that you were to start with.

So, let me post the diagram I sent and try to get one of the guys familiar with DuraSpark (or who have a correct schematic) to confirm or deny...here we go.

On your module, I believe the white wire you are talking about is the pink wire in the diagram above running from Ignition Switch ("B") to Starter Solenoid ("S").

Note though that I am showing it with a separate starter button (being hot powered off the "B" post of the ignition switch). If you are not using a separate Starter Button, the pink wire in the above diagram would actually be hooked to the "S" position of the Starter Switch and run as shown to the Starter Solenoid. (and if your seperate Starter Button is NOT hot all the time but turned on with the key, that pink wire would originate either at the "ACC" post of the Ignition Switch, or at the Switched Bus )

The Red wire you are refering to is - I believe - the red wire in the diagram above that runs from the Ignition Switch ("I") then to the Starter Solenoid ("I").

The last wire - the green/red in your description is the red wire in the diagram above that comes off the Ignition Switch ("I") and goes to the Coil ("+") via a ballast resistor.

In my diagram the red wire appears to be spliced going to both Starter Solenoid and Coil (there are in reality two red wires both hooked to the "I" terminal of the Ignition Switch one going to the "I" on the starter solenoid and the other going to the coil - on many vehicles these are actually spliced together as shown in the drawing and I drew it this way for simplicity)

Ok, now all we need is for one of you sharp DuraSpark Guys to give us a thumbs up or correction as needed.

Thanks in advance!

Good luck! Woodsman

J!
