dashlights dim with blower motor on

I got a good question that puzzles me.. i don't know why..but i can drive perfectly with my radio and everything on *cept blower motor* when i turn it on it makes my dashlights and headlights dim? voltage regulator?? alternator? i'm stumped..i don't know where to begin
its a 82 f-150 5.0L

Generally, if everything dims, that indicates a short of some kind. It is possible that the blower motor is going out or one of the windings has shorted to another. Also, it could be that the alternator is going and can't keep up with the load. The blower motor is a pretty high current item. I'd start with the alternator as it is about the easiest to get to. Pull it and take it to a parts house and get them to test it. Same with the regulator.

well the alternator is almost new..i've had it less than 3 months..but i did change this motor and everything out from my 76 into this truck... i might need it changed..but it did the same thing in my other truck too....maybe i just need a new alt?
