03 tranny noise?
Hi, my wifes Explorer (4wd 4L) Has been acting up on occasion. I haven't had it happen to me yet, but she says when she puts it in drive from reverse it seems to rev up and jerks forward.
I'm not sure if this is related or not, but a few times last winter just after start up it would make a little clunk, sounded kinda like somone would tap the frame with a hammer

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

2003 explorer
We have a 2003 explorer that was just checked out by our backyard mechanic. It was checked out this morning and of course it was cold here. After driving about 15 miles or more, it started the thumping noise we always hear after it warms up. This noise sounds like it was in the tires but at times you fell a vibration under your feet in the floor board. My mechanic tells me it is the clutches in the transfer case from switching over to a synthetic grease lube that Amsoil makes. All of their fluids & lube products needs no additives. has any one else used Amsoil lube grease or their synthetic trans fluid ? I'd like to hear what others say as I'm confused more than ever what is good to use for protecting parts & etc....
