exhaust question

I have a 1996 ford ranger xlt right now i have a FLO-PRO exhaust system on it. I was thinking about putting on a flowmaster exhuast system but will it really make a difference in sound. I want to go with a louder exhaust.

Ahh, a fellow Michigander! How loud? How about a 18" Thrush glasspack from the cat flange into a 90 or 45 degree and out the side in front of the tire? I had to put on a cheapie SS resonator to soften the bark & avoid tickets, but even with a bone-stock 2.9L it sounds awesome. And run 2.25 in diam assuming a stock engine. That being said, if you still want Flowmaster, get the 40 series. Not Dynaflow.

Which flow pro do you have? Some of them are Flowmaster knockoffs, and they will not sound significantly different.

The flowmaster 40 series is one of the loudest you can get, however, they have been known to resinate inside the cab at around 3,000 rpm's.

Yeah, what wendell said! The DeltaFlow 40 series is supposed to cut down on the resonance inside the cab. I'm about to have to replace my 40 series that has been on for 4 years due to the fact that the dang thing is rusting apart. I like my single inlet dual outlet 40 series. I ran it all the way out the back with Magnaflow stainless slash cut rolled edge 3 1/2" tips. Sounds pretty good to me but on the long 3 or 4 hour trips the droning resonance gets a little old. Not near as loud as the 40 series duals on my 85 GT 5.0 though lol.

Those 40 series are some good sounding mufflers whether it's a V-8 or a V-6.
