Anyone know where i can buy a rear diff cover and gasket for 2001 f350 other than ford. and what type of diff oil can i use other than $20.00 a ltr at ford
I paid about $15 a qt for Mobil 1 75-140 synthetic and didnt need any friction modifier that diff cover is the best deal I have seen and its pretty sweet
That's a great deal considering the "stock" stamped metal cover runs about $40 bucks (online) - an extra 25-30 for one that will actually last is well worth it.
you can get that same diff cover from Ford for about 20 bucks less. You will just need to find some longer bolts. Just tell the Ford parts guy it is the 08' diesel SRW diff cover.
I run the Royal Purple 75/140 synthetic and it has the friction modifier in the oil.
Thats what I did - Got it @ Ford @ bought stainless screws (allen) and washersat hardware store. IIRC the screws need to be about 1/4" longer than the originals. All said and done probably as cheap just to buy the kit from Diesel Manor
I also just found mine was leaking and was wondering what to do. No I have to tell the wife I need to spend more money on truck. She should love that!!

How much fluid does it take, anyone know?
A little over 3 quarts. If you buy four quarts, you'll be set.
