rear axle alignment?

I noticed the rear axle is off centre.can I just loosen the U-bolts on the leaf springs and slide it over. I never really notice it before until I was installing some mud flaps. then realized the tire was closer to the outer fender well on the passenger side than on the drivers side. I'm afraid if I put a wider tire on it will really be noticeable.

thats a cool trick....

there is a hole in the spring mount pad, and the bolt that holds the leafs together extends downward to locate the axle on the springs using the hole.

someting had to break...

Yea, tear that apart before it moves and breaks the u joint or worse. We have this happen on Freightliner walkins at work. Locator pin/bolt shears off.

Make sure it is not the bed, that being said, you know many Ford trucks are designed to dog track from the factory and are designed this way for the ackerman angles and such?

Before you fix the problem, make sure you have one first. Take it to a body shop and have them put it on the rack, and if needed, align it for you.
