Can anyone tell me what the trouble code p-0446 is on an 2008 250 with a 5.4 ? Or can you point me in the right direction to search this site for a list, thanks.
No, its the I cut the vent line to install a tee for my transfer tank version. I have since reconnected it , and it still throws the code and the fuel tries to back up the neck when I fill the tank. Before you ask, yes I checked the vent line and it is not restricted. What exactly is the deal with the engineering of this tank anyway?
P0446 - Evaporative Emission System Vent Control Circuit
Detailed Description...
Monitors the canister vent (CV) solenoid circuit for an electrical failure. The test fails when the signal moves outside the minimum or maximum allowable calibrated parameters for a specified canister vent duty cycle by powertrain control module (PCM) command.
Possible causes...
VPWR circuit open
KAPWR circuit open (vehicles equipped with engine off natural vacuum (EONV) EVAP leak check monitor)
CV solenoid circuit short to PWR GND or CHASSIS GND
Damaged CV solenoid
CV solenoid circuit open
CV solenoid circuit short to VPWR
CV solenoid circuit short to KAPWR (vehicles equipped with engine off natural vacuum (EONV) EVAP leak check monitor)
Damaged PCM
I called auto zone and asked them to look up the codes, 0446 is something with the emissions solenoid and 0100 is something with the mass airflow sensor, but he wasn't very clear. Does anybody know how the emissions systems and fuel tank works? Thanks.
What is the kapwr, vpwr, and cv solenoid, eonv, and where are they? And why do we need all that crap on our trucks for? I'm sure there is a simpler way to control fumes from the fuel tank. Thanks for the info, you can always find someone who knows these things on this site.
I reset the computer and it is o.k. now. Apparently the solenoid closed when it sensed a leak in the vent tube. I would still like to know what the abbreviations are for. I Have been working on cars for 26 years, I also rebuild old cars and sell them, I just am not familiar with the fuel vapor system on this vehicle.
