WOW a NO RESERVE AUCTION !! You don't see that every day.
Only 6 days to talk myself into if.
Is this really a 390? The VIN engine code is Y = 352 2V. The 390 wasn't introduced till 1968.
On sale day, all 352's and 360's magically become 390's.
This is a Custom Cab, so where are the stainless steel windshield mouldings?
Positives and negatives so-far.
Pro - X-Show truck = X-swimsuit model ( got a lot of miles but still looks really good and every thing works !).
Pro - No reserve auction. Con - Obama , Biden future !!
Pro - Spent Saturday afternoon - putting new brakes on the wifes car. ( wife is still in shock and just a little scared ).

Pro - No reserve auction. Con - Obama , Biden future !! The election isn't till November, mebbe one or both will self distruct by then.
If you are so concerned, don't forget to vote.

Case in point, no F Series truck came with a 390 engine till 1968, so if there's one in there now, he, or some previous owner installed it.
One cannot tell one FE (352/360/390 etc) engine from another by looking at it.
CON: Are you over 6 feet tall? These cabs are very tight even if you aren't.
CON: These trucks are yesterdays technology with no AM/FM, no AM/FM tape or CD radios, no power steering, very few have power brakes which are drum only. No discs were available on F100's till 1973. Very few have A/C, none have power windows, power seat, no tilt wheel or Cruise Control.
CON: Gas is over 4 bucks a gallon and the price will continue to rise. The days of 2 buck a gallon gas are over. Don't expect better than 15-18 MPG on the highway, 8-12 MPG city with one of these rigs. And don't make the mistake of thinking one of these rigs drives like a new one...they don't.
CON: Your local Ford dealer has little or no parts for any Ford truck prior to 1980. Obsolete parts are expensive and difficult to find. Quality repro parts are also expensive.
CON: If you aren't mechanically inclined, you'll have to have the work done by others. There are very few shops around today that will work on these trucks, because they have little or no service info. They don't know where to buy the parts, and what passes for mechanics today, even on newer stuff is terrible. In SoCal, I've found exactly two shops that will work on old vehicles. Both charge over 65 bucks an hour for labor.
I'm the original owner of my 1965 F100, so I ain't just whistling Dixie.
This info is based on reality, it's not meant as a dis-couragement.
Some peeps are affected with "buck fever" and buy these old rides, without doing a shred of research. Then they come to realize they had no klew of what they got into.
Some are disappointed, some are not.
