I know what you mean. If it was me I would probably fit poly bushes as much easier to work with. However that does not answer your question. There was a thread on the `87-`96 page a few days ago giving a blow by blow on how one guy did it. He did not use a ball joint press but said you probably could. Do a search of that forum and you should get all the information you will need. Good luck with it.

Better off burning the rubber out, then cutting the bushing with a dremel or air chisel, THEN, using the ball joint press.

I agree with you on that. However some guys don`t have the gear or don`t want to burn. The thread I refered him to was by frederic and gave a good description for doing it without heat. However it sounded labor intensive and I would have thought heat would be a lot quicker, however the no heat method worked.

You can use a hack saw and cut through the bushings in several places.

Stick the blade through the bushing and start cutting.

This will relieve most of the pressure and they will be easier to remove.

Thanks guys, I ended up borrowing a 10 ton press from the warehouse at my office (construction co.) so I think I can get the job done with that. I still might end up drilling and using my sawzall. I couldn't get to it this weekend and who knows when I will, but it will nag me until it's done.
