secondaries leaning out

i put the 4bbl 600cfm holley on my 302, changed the primary jets to smaller ones for high elevation but didnt change any rear plates. So far the engine is running great! it pulls awesome considering 3.27 gears and a 1/2 ton trailer, it gets goin. After lets say hauling around the car trailer (about 1 ton of freakin steel) it leans WAY out when the secondaries open. primaries are perfect, and meter well, the second the secondaries open, it shudders and feels leaned out. When i idle and let the bowl fill (im guessing) it goes back to normal. I havent touched a thing regarding fuel (pump, tank is at least 1/2 full and didnt touch/modify the metering system).

a lil weird but i learned to deal with it. nay suggestions? raise the float?

I would first verify the float level is just under the site plug. Then I would check the fuel filter and fuel pressure.

Is it a model 4160? Why I ask is the transfer tube might have some crap in it or the needle and seat assembly. Otherwise the dirty filter sounds good since it can feed the primaries but not both.
