Explorer trans into a ranger
My friend has a 94 ranger 2 wheel drive with a 4.0 liter. And because of his lead foot he blew his auto trans. My friend was going to start looking for a trans for it and asked me if a trans from an explorer that was 2 wheel drive and had the same motor would fit into the ranger. I told him it might but the cross members could be different but i am not sure since my experience is in 70's ford trucks.

There are two motors both 4.0l. A 4.0 pushrod motor and 4.0 SOHC. The transmissions from the same motors will interchange but the pushrod and SOHC transmissions are different. Most transmissions (all?)from the 4.0 SOHC are 5r55e 5 speed automatic.
