Hitch Steps?

Hey All,

I saw one of these cool "hitch steps" in the thread where people gave me some great ideas about tire steps, and I wondered if any of you used/liked these?

My F-250 4x4 is 5 and 1/8" higher than my '88 F-150 2x4 (at the tailgate) and my back has been bothering me lately (knock on wood three times) so I thought I'd try one. That 5 and 1/8" may not seem like much, but even my Golden Retriever (seven years young) can no longer jump up in the bed anymore--not that a hitch step will help him, with the tailgate down--LOL).

I liked the look of #60050, with the red reflector, about halfway down this page, on the right: Tire Step, Hitch Steps And Pickup Truck Tailgate Step.

I was thinking that the ones with a wider bar would be knee/shin bangers, even though the ends are swept forward, toward the bumper. Any thoughts on the "step bars" vs. the smaller step, for the hitch?

I also have a front receiver welded into the Una-mount plow (the P.O. was a big boater), so I would be able to use it there, too, which does make me consider the wider bar, now that I reconsider it.

Thanks again!

Peter
