i have a 1974 460 thats in a 65 f100. I was replacing the oil pressure switch when i thought about installing a gauge instead of just that light. The guy at the autozone here told me that installing an oil pressure gauge was a lot of work. Maybe my dad has just raised me wrong but i like to see what my oil pressure is at. Is there an easy way to do this? It would make me and my dad happy.
I don't why the guy said that is was hard for. buy a kit at a part store. plug it into the sendng unit hole and run the connections through the fire wall to the gauge.
Get a good gauge and installion kit it's easy. If you want to get fancy, stop at the hardware store and pick up a brass T an a short nipple (piece of pipe) then you can install both the idiot light and the gauge, just be sure to use a good pipe sealant at all the joints, teflon tape works fine.
I would also speak to the manager at that Auto Zone, around here they are promoting people to fix their own stuff not telling them it can't be done.
