I am looking to add more torque to give me better fuel effeciency without goin to far into the motor at the moment. I was wonderin what yall had in mind.
I am lookin at a cold air intake, throttle body spacer and the tornado fuel saver. Eventually i am goin to dig deeper into the motor but as of right now im just stickin with simple bolt ons or easy install parts. Thank you for all your help. I would like your opinions on these and anything else you could think of to help me out. thanks.

If it is a factory EFI set up not much you can do.you might be able to get by with a very mild cam maybe. Headers and dual exhaust will help.
It would easier to rebuild a 351 W or get GT 40 heads,Mustang 5.0 upper intake and related parts along with a ECM from a A Mustang 5.0 I'm sure someone can tell you which computer you need
Well, you are wasting your money on the tornado thing, don't even bother with that. You'd be better off by just doing tune up things like cap, rotor, plugs wires, oil change etc...
You might try looking for an intake spacer which is not the same thing as a throttle body spacer. A spacer that fits between the upper and lower half of the intake manifold. I know they make them for the EFI mustangs, but not sure if they would work on the EFI truck intakes or if someone makes them just for the trucks.
The intake spacer is like a composite material that does not conduct heat well. (I think the technical term is Phelonic Spacer? It helps keep the throttle body cooler by isolating the heat transfer from the intake manifold, translating into cooler/denser air entering into the engine. Ford made composite intakes for the Taurus after a certain year.
PS. Long tube headers help develope low end torque vs shorties.

Reason: added PS
It's going to be hard to beat the factory for torque numbers. Headers and spacers may make a little bit of difference, but they come with trade-offs and sacrifices. The exhaust would be your best bet, but then there is the legality issues and fit and access problems that come with that. If it were easy and worth doing, the factory surely would have done it to beat the competition.
X2 on the long tubes, and the gt40's. just becareful of your states regulations regarding noise levels and emissions. here in nj they are pretty tough. or you can get collector plates and dont worry about it. good luck!!
True duals is a start. True duals and headers would be even better. Of course, if you are getting headers, do them at the same time.
More importantly, what transmission and gearing do you have? If you are running an automatic with overdrive and a 3.08 or less rear end, then going to some 3.50's or better could help save gas in city driving.
I am workin on gettin the exhaust done here shortly. Not sure if i wanna put headers on yet tho. Im thinking of cuttin the cat off n runnin 2.25 duals back over the rear axle and than bumping it up to 3.5 to exit under the bumper. The reason for the switch from 2.25 to 3.5 once i get over the axle is because i was gunna get some 3.5 x 24 tips, but im figureing that instead of puttin tips on, y not just run the bigger pipe.
I have the AOD tranny with 3.55 gears.
Ok so heres what im gettin... Cold air intake is a waste because mine breaths really well already, Throttle spacer n tornado is also a waste.
So i am just gunna stick with the exhaust for now. When it comes time to pull the motor for a tune up i will spend some money on the cam, shorter lifters, gt40 heads n the whole nine yards. than again, with the motor already out i might just put in a 351. I will decide that when the time comes, It better not be soon with only 45000 on the motor.

I would build the 351w up first, then pull the 302. You could build it up anytime, although with no time limmit, and therefore more time and money to put in the motor, it's way easy to overbuild!!!

If you're going with GT40 heads why not get the Cobra intake (upper&lower) change the computer with the cam you want?
I am starting to think more twards the 351w instead of building the 302 up. i have a 351 carb and was just wondering if it would be better to leave it a carb and put it in the truck after the build or convert it over to fi during the build?
