muffler rattler
my muffler has a rattle that confuses me. let me explain what happend. i was runnin down the road about 60 miles/hr and my lead plug wire came loose of the coil and i guess some raw gas got into my exhaust and burned cause when i jumped out and looked under my truck and my muffler was glowing red. ?????? the only thing i could think of was that when this all happend it melted something in my exhaust. does this even make sense or am i being stupid.???

When I had the muffler on my 94 replaced they found it weighed about fifty+ pounds, the entire contents of the cat had been blown into it. The cat was a empty shell of its former self!
The muffler was clogged, I have no doubt it had been glowing red hot because of it but I never looked. Odd thing was before they pulled it they thought my cat was what was clogged via their inferred thermal gun, not the muffler.
You may want to pull it and have a look see.
