trying to figure out if there are any companys that sell either a carb that will bolt up to a stock 2 barrle intake on a 63 y block or if there are any companys that sell adaptars
or if there are any companys that sell or reproduce 4 barrle intake manifolds for the 292 or if i have to start searching junk yards for f-600s? to get the 4 barrle carb and intake? any help would be greatly apperciated and thank you for any help i may recive in advance!
Blue Thunder makes an aluminum 4-barrel intake for modern carbs. It is very similar to the 1957 and up 4-barrel intake that is cast-iron. Painted up they look alike but there is a significant weight difference among other things. Though you should be able to find a cast-iron one for ~$100 maybe less and the aluminum intake will run you closer to $400 new.
The Blue Thunder is has begun to show some problems in the street vehicles due to large intake runners. It would not be a good choice for 60-64 heads. John Mummert is supposedly going to unveil a new aluminum 4V soon that remedies the street issues.
Autolite 2100s are fairly easy to find, a great 2V carb. Good low end response and gas mileage. Stock for the Y truck is a 1.02 size venturi with manual choke. I forget, but it is either 1.12 or 1.14 venturi size that you should not exceed.
Don't count on finding a 4-bbl manifold on an F, C, or N600 - they normally have 2-bbl MD 292s (code "C" engines). 4-bbls (code "D" engines) are usually found on SOME '61 - '64 F,C or N 700s w/ Ford engines and ALL '61 - '64 T700s w/ Ford (as opposed to Lincoln) engines.
