I am a recently converted Dodge owner. My previous truck was an '02 Ram with a 5.9 V8 and used a Hypertech tuner. Needless to say I was extremely underwhelmed. I have recetly gotten into an '05 F-150 Lariat 4x4 Screw with the 5.4 and don't want to get burned with a tuner again. After reading through this site I have heard people giving praise to just about all brands. My biggest want is more power. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I bought my truck with a Hypertech 3 stage tuner. I can change from 50 hp 80 hp to 100hp while I'm driving. It really makes a difference but I know a Xcal with custom tunes will kick its butt. I plan to get mine from Troyer Performance. He has programmed chips & tuners for me for yrs. I've never had a problem with any thing I got there & I'm always impressed with his tunes. I was running a 9100 SCT with Troyer tunes in my 97 Lariat. I'd tried 4 other brands of chips & programmers. The 9100 out preformed all 4 brands I had used. I had more power, more mpg & the best shifting I've ever had. I strongly recommend Troyer Performance.
It's all in the guy writing the tunes.....regardless of platform. Troyer and VMP tunes do the best with Xcal-2 and 3's for the US guys as well as Bob over in Power Hungry Perforamnce for the Edge (Gryphon).
