help me clarify something?

ok did some searching in the archieves, and think i found the answer. but here's my problem.

on our new 'star the turnsignals don't work, and the four ways only work when the tursignal switch is clicked in either left or right. from what i read the multifunction switch is toast. just seems funny that those parts go bad while brights and wipers still work. but go figure. still have brake lights, and all lights minus turnsignals.

so help me clarify here, it is the multifunction switch that's gone bad ya?

thanks again!!

That sounds like the problem to me. But before you change it, have you checked all the fuses. The hazard lights and the turn signal light are powered by different fuses.

The multi-function stalk controls a couple of separate switches; the high/low beam and the wiper controls are all different from the turn signal switch. However, since the turn signal bulbs are the same ones used for the hazard lights, the circuit goes through both switches, and one will affect the other. The brake light circuit doesn't go near these switches.

Your suspicion is most lightly correct; your turn signal switch is probably broken. But before digging into it, check one more simple thing in addition to the fuses; are all the signal bulbs working?
