I bought my '05 explorer about 3 weeks ago. I needed an extra key, so I took it to the dealership where I bought it and they made me a new one. After I left, I realized my reverse sensing isn't working properly anymore.
It's on when I start up, but as soon as I put the explorer in reverse, it cuts off. I called the dealership, but they said setting the code for the new key wouldn't effect the RSS. Is it just a coincidence that it stopped working the same day I picked it up, or is it possible someone cut something off while they worked on it?
I've not had it long, but I did enjoy that feature.
Just an update. I cleaned the sensors yesterday, but didn't make a difference. This morning when I leave to go to work, it beeps like normal when I'm backing out of the garage. But the first time I stop, and shift into reverse again....it toggles off. So it seems it's working intermittently. I have had someone tell me that it has nothing to do with the new key, but now I'm curious to the problem. I purchased the extended warranty, (high tech version), does anyone know if that will cover fixing the RSS.
