Transmission Problem/Question!
Been a while since my last post but I have recently ran in to a problem with my 2005 F150 Lariat Automatic truck. I have 104,500 miles on it and in the last 1000 miles, I have noticed a slight problem with what seems to be my transmission and 4th gear. When I am driving around town between 45 and 60 miles an hour and my truck is in the 4th gear, there is a slipping feeling (slipping like it is accelerating and then many bumps) in what seems to be my transmission. I have gone to the local ford place and called other transmission shops around town and they suggested flushing my transmission fluid. I ended up having this done and I didn't notice the problem for a few days and then it is now back. If I get the RPMs up high enough in 4th, I don't feel this slipping problem. So interstate driving is no problem. It is mainly a problem in town. What I have ended up doing is turning the O/D off so that my truck won't go into the 4th gear around town.
Does anyone have any suggestions as what to do or what might be the cause? Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks and happy trucking.

For my current issue, they told me to bring it in when it is having the problem and the tech will take it for a cruise. I am a little skeptical about that since when I was having problems because of my exhaust manifold, the first time I took it in, they said nothing was wrong. Right when I turned my truck on, the same noise was still existant. So, I brought the guy out to hear it and he was like, ohhh that noise. And they determined it was a crack in my exhaust manifold.
I will try to take it to another place in town and see what they say. It is realy annoying when just driving around town and I don't want it to do any further damage to my transmission, if that is where it is.
Thanks for the reply.
