Fueling problem

I have a fueling problem I have seen listed with older model vehicles, but I have a 2005 F-250 gas engine, that is a major pain to fill up. It turns the pump off every couple seconds. If I can get the pump to go extremely slow it isn't such a problem, but usually I have to stand there and reset the thing 20 times before I get my money's worth of gas. It can be extremely frusterating depending on my time frame and the weather, not to mention gas prices (I wont go there). The gas station owner told me to carry around a 2x4 to back up on to tilt the "inlet", but that not only seems absurd to have to do to put gas in my vehicle, but it doesnt seem to help much no matter what the angle of my truck. Also it seems to be getting progressively worse. Any ideas out there? Can this be remedied with out a huge expense at the dealers? I appreciate any input!
thanks,

Welcome to FTE. Have you tried pulling the nozzle out slightly so it sits at a different angle? Have you always had this problem or did it just start? It sounds like there's a kink or restriction in the fill hose going to the tank. or the vent hose coming out of it.

You could drop the tank yourself to check things out, of have someone else do it for you.

Of course this assumes you have the factory bed. I've got a 94 450 with a flat bed on it where one of the tanks sits too high for the bed and the fill hose is almost horizontal. Without getting really creative, a slow fill is our only option there.

Years ago - i had an old van that developed the same problem that got worse and worse. turned out the rotten neighbours kids had been dumping gravel down the filler neck and it was getting stuck in the screen inside the tube. Id check for a blockage in the filler neck.
