Front End Emblems

As we all know, most of the 1987-1991 Ford trucks had an emblem under the
drivers side headlight.
I have seen 4X4, Diesel, EFI and even some trucks that had no emblem at all, but last week I saw a truck that I could have sworn had a 4X2 emblem !

Did my eyes deceive me ?

No, your eyes are good. I recall seeing that when the vehicles were new.

IMO emblems worth sticking on the vehicle, limiting to Ford here:

427

289
High Performance

4x4 (marginally acceptable)

6.5 Litre (acceptable on Cougar)

7 Litre (It's the model)

Maybe a couple of others.

But nobodys gives a shift about your:

4x2

EFI

MPSEFI (if that was Ford, regardless, we don't care)

Ltd. (OK, LTD was a model & a stupid name imo, even though Mom liked hers.
BECAUSE if this was "limited" Model, the "Ltd wouldn't be on every car)

ESS (Only 1/3 was correct)

Sport

Overdrive (none of anyone's business.....)

Heck, I'm into mindless crank territory again here....

(non-Ford: TRD & NISMO. If I bought one, I wouldn't want anyone to know--the punishing ride is reward enough without advertising...)

I took an overdrive badge off a bronco at the scrap yard and periodically glue it on to friends cars with rtv...

I doubt it as the trucks I saw were the basic fleet white w/lumber rack or plain jane type. Simple a proud pronouncement of two wheel drive.

OK, I am not the brightest bulb in the box, but was the 4X2 emblem I saw
original or not ?
It looked identical to the style used on the 87-91 trucks

I believe you saw an original emblem right where Ford put it.

I guess it could have been on a truck that was not fuel injected, non 4x4 and
non diesel.
Did some of the trucks come with no emblem at all ??

Well I checked with LMC and Dennis Carpenter and they have the EFI, Diesel and 4X4 emblems but no 4X2 emblem.

I checked on E-bay today and saw a 1987 F-250 with this 4X2 emblem on it..... so it is a factory emblem.
Thought I was goin nutty !

Lmc doesn't have the full selection of emblems..nor does NPD.They stock the most common...anybody notice they only stock the f250 XL and Xlt,but not the F250 super duty or any F350 stuff?Nor do they list the straight 92-96 F150 emblems without xl or xlt on them...and I also noticed they don't have the custom emblems...They only carry common items...

As far as the "TRD" decals, I've always had an itch to put a "U" in there with a marker.
