Well, I have been posting all of the problems with my 05 PSD 4x4, and while I think they should not have happened, some others feel it is my fault for running a tuner. Nevertheless, I found a dealer in the area to work on my truck. The head diesel tech did not feel my truck was anything more than slightly modified, nor did he feel that the tuner on the tow/economy setting was at all responsible for my problems.
So....all I needed was new head gaskets, new heads to replace the warped ones, a new turbo, new oil cooler, a entirely new HPOP(since the stc fix didnt solve the initial problem), and a new injector or two. Not too shabby. Afterall I only paid $50k for the truck and it does have 52000 miles on it....just routine maintenance I am sure.
I will say, I am delighted all of this has been done for $100. So, thanks to Ford for making good on what the dealership says was a design problem from the outset. Either way, I am not going to run my Triple Dog tuner any more. In fact, I am probably not going to run the truck much either. I bought a new Tundra last weekend since I could no longer climb into my truck and be sure it was going to work. It is nice to know the truck is going to start and run correctly every time I get into it. I will keep the Ford for any serious hauling I may need to do, but that's it.
Thanks for all the suggestions and advice. Anyone that wants a triple dog tuner can pm me with an offer.
I'm glad they took care of you!! It sounds like they are fixing it right. I predict you will be driving the Ford more than the Tundra once you get the confidence back in your Ford!!
I hope u r right about the Ford. I feel like I am punishing it by sticking a new truck in the garage next to it. Time will tell. I really could not be happier with the dealership making the repairs. I will post when I get the truck back(should be wed or thurs).
