I need a fairly large heater core to kludge together a cheap heat exchanger (for my garage) to add to my recently ordered outdoor wood burning furnace.
Anyone have a suggestion for a pretty good size one (large area, good flow rate, etc) that you've run across in any various vehicle?
Most heater core application charts go by vehicle make/model/etc instead of BTU transfer capability, so a suggestion on where to look first is requested.
I agree on the radiator. They flow more water, have a larger surface area, and much more flexible when it comes to the fans you can use. Plus, if you have to go to the junkyard, they are probably easier to remove from a vehicle.
If you decide to use a radiator, you can get one with the electric fan already attached and you can simply use a converter and plug it in the wall. Since you don't need a radiator to fit a particular vehicle, you can bargain for one that there is little or no demand for and it should be really cheap.
