no power when cold

2004 6.0 dealer did something to the computer when I brought it in for service now it takes at least 10 min to warm up and it has no power if you try and go sooner says this was mandated by ford to keep from blowing up the motor

anyone else have this issue or am I being sold down the river

Is your EGR unplugged, deleted, blocked off? Because that will really slow warmup. Not a bad thing as far as some are concerned.

My work truck (04 F250) 150k on it is doing same thing now for last 20k or so. It always would start and go with plenty of power. Now have to wait at least 10 minutes to go, or like all you are saying..no power.

I heard

that it has something to do with the heads warping there is a fix but its about 2k not sure about that though I just know it suks to have to wait how can it be a daily driver that way
I still new to the whole diesel bit and I love my truck but

I live on a hill and the last time I tried to start and wait just a few minutes I was stuck facing up hill seems like a safety issue to me but then again I would hate to blow it up so Ill just have to wait to warm up for now untill I figure it out

thanks all

Is it possible when they reflashed your truck the flash didnt work properly? If you have warrenty I would really get on their case to fix the flash issue and whatever else is going on. An 04 could have some warrenty work that needs to be done based on recalls. I would ask for an oasis and make sure all warranty recalls are completed and then start testing from there.

how fast is the truck supposed to warm up? Mine since it was new takes 10 minutes of driving easy to warm up to operating temp even when it is 70 or 80 outside.

my truck takes like 15 mins and still runs like crap unless i geton the hwy.warm...
make sure you keep up with that oil changes very imporntant in these trucks. also only use the corect anti freeze from ford.and ford oil and ford filters. its not worth the problems you get if you dont. every 5.000 miles is best. ive learnes alot these past few weeks aboutthese 6.0s they are not a bad motor. just need clean oil and fuel

Did they do an oil change with the service? Often times injector stiction will appear the next day after an oil change. Injector stiction causes no power at cold start exactly like you're describing.
