I just picked up a used 2004, F-350, V-10, 4 WD... When I crank up the truck, the headlights come on. I have tried every switch position and they are still on as long as the motor is running. Headlingts ONLY. There are times when I'd like to start the unit and let it warm up without lights on. This unit had quite a bit of user electrical equipment installed however it was removed before it went off the lease program. There are a few "unknown" wires behind the electrical panel under the steering wheel. Can you tell me if all 2004 F-350's have the headlights come on when the motor is started? Thanks
It was probably a Canadian truck. They are required to have daylight running lights. My truck does the same thing. That is what I was told by Ford Customer Service.
Check your voltages or have someone turn on your lights while your standing in front of it. DRLs some times use a lower voltage to bulbs than your head light switch so they light up but don't draw as much current. I'd expect a factory system to act this way. Aftermarket could be partial or full voltage.
Its funny you mention the headlight thing.I have been doing a lot of daylight driving on winding mountain rds in the Sierras lately.I ALWAYS drive with headlights and foglights on.
